At Carparts 2U, we want you to be confident when purchasing 4×4 parts, 4WD accessories and automotive spare parts online in Australia. This Returns & Refunds Policy explains how we handle returns, exchanges, refunds and products that arrive faulty or incorrect.
This policy applies in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). Consumer guarantees cannot be excluded or replaced by a store’s returns policy.
1. Change-of-Mind Returns
If you simply change your mind about a purchase, a refund or exchange is not automatically required under Australian Consumer Law. However, Carparts 2U may accept eligible change-of-mind returns subject to the conditions below.
For an eligible change-of-mind return:
- The item must be unused and in saleable condition.
- The product must not have been installed, modified or damaged.
- Original packaging should be intact where reasonably possible.
- Proof of purchase is required.
- The product must be returned within the timeframe specified by Carparts 2U.
- Some products may be excluded from change-of-mind returns.
Important: These conditions do not limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law where a product has a genuine fault or otherwise fails to meet a consumer guarantee.
2. Faulty or Defective 4×4 Parts
If a product has a problem, please contact us as soon as possible.
Under Australian Consumer Law, products must meet applicable consumer guarantees, including being of acceptable quality and matching their description. Depending on the nature and seriousness of the problem, a customer may be entitled to a repair, replacement or refund.
Examples may include a product that:
- Is faulty or defective
- Is unsafe
- Does not match its description
- Does not perform as reasonably expected
- Has a significant problem that cannot be easily fixed
The appropriate remedy depends on the circumstances and whether the problem is considered a major or minor failure.
3. Major Product Failures
Where a product has a major failure under the Australian Consumer Law, you may be entitled to choose between a replacement or refund, along with other applicable remedies.
A major failure can include situations where the product:
- Would not have been purchased had the problem been known
- Is substantially unfit for its normal purpose
- Is unsafe
- Is significantly different from its description
- Cannot be easily fixed within a reasonable time
4. Minor Product Problems
Where a problem does not amount to a major failure, Carparts 2U may provide an appropriate remedy, which can include repair or replacement.
If the problem cannot be resolved within a reasonable time, further remedies may become available under the Australian Consumer Law.
5. Incorrect or Wrong Item
If you receive a product that is different from what you ordered, please contact us before installing or modifying the item.
Please provide:
- Your order number
- The product you ordered
- The product you received
- Photos of the item and packaging where requested
We will assess the issue and arrange an appropriate solution.
6. Damaged Items
If your order arrives damaged, please contact Carparts 2U promptly.
We may request photographs of:
- The damaged product
- External packaging
- Shipping labels
- Any visible damage
Please retain the original packaging until we have completed our assessment.
7. 4×4 Parts That Have Been Installed
Because many automotive components require professional installation, we strongly recommend checking vehicle compatibility and product specifications before installation.
Installing, modifying, dismantling or altering a product may affect a change-of-mind return. However, this does not remove your rights under the Australian Consumer Law if the product has a genuine consumer-guarantee problem.
If you believe an installed product is faulty, contact us so we can assess the issue.
8. Product Compatibility
Before ordering, customers should confirm that the selected part is suitable for their:
- Vehicle make
- Model
- Year
- Engine
- Variant
- Existing modifications
- Intended application
If you are unsure whether a product is suitable for your 4WD, contact our team before purchasing.
This is particularly important for 4WD suspension, bull bars, lighting, recovery equipment, engine components and vehicle-specific accessories.
9. Return Process
To request a return, contact our customer service team with:
Order number:
Customer name:
Product name:
Reason for return:
Photos or supporting information:
Our team will review your request and provide return instructions where applicable.
Please do not send products back without contacting us first.
10. Return Shipping
For approved change-of-mind returns, return shipping costs may be the responsibility of the customer.
Where a product is confirmed to have a problem covered by the Australian Consumer Law, Carparts 2U will handle shipping costs in accordance with applicable consumer law.
Australian consumer law can require a business to provide an appropriate remedy when goods fail to meet consumer guarantees.
11. Refunds
Where a refund is approved, the refund will generally be processed using the original payment method where practicable.
Processing times may vary depending on:
- Payment provider
- Bank processing times
- Return assessment
- Product inspection
We will advise you once your refund has been processed.
12. Warranty & Consumer Guarantees
Manufacturer warranties are additional to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. A warranty does not replace or remove applicable consumer guarantees.
For eligible products, warranty claims may require information such as:
- Order number
- Product details
- Vehicle details
- Description of the problem
- Photographs or videos
- Installation information
13. Proof of Purchase
We may request reasonable proof of purchase when processing a return, refund, replacement or warranty claim.
Your order confirmation, invoice or receipt can generally be used as proof of purchase.
14. Important Australian Consumer Law Notice
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
Nothing in this Returns & Refunds Policy is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any right or remedy that cannot legally be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.
